Blab #37 - Pom Pom - Saturday, 10th April, 1999

Useless fact of the day:

The only continent without reptiles or snakes is Antarctica.

Ok, as you might have noticed, it's been a while since my last Blab. The reason is that I'm back from the holidays, and now don't have the time that I want and need for writing a Blab.

I was thinking about Blabbing about The Meaning of life today. A hefty subject indeed one might think, but since I'm not really looking for the one and only and universal meaning of it, I feel some of the pressure has been lifted of me. So why will I not endeavour to find the universal meaning of life?
Well, I asked myself a lot of questions when I took it upon myself to write about this. And one could say that I actually reached some conclusions. A somewhat unconclusive conslusion it is tho, so be warned, since there's quite a lot of retorical nonsense ahead! :)

The meaning of life.

Perhaps it should just be: "meaning of life" and not: "THE meaning of life". Not much of a difference you say? Well, without the "THE", it becomes Un-Universalized. It becomes individual. And that's exactly what I think it is: Individual. Some people probably aren't looking for a meaning in life, or Purpose. Purpose of existance or whatever. They happily boil along without a care, while others spend a life-time pondering about meaning in their existance.

Many probably don't feel any need to know the meaning of life, while for others it's the goal in their life. So while this could just be seen as a "minor" difference in opinion, it's really a much deeper difference than one could think. I don't even want to start Blabbing about this tho, since it would reach deep into history, religion, social aspects and layers, and I would have to derrive at too many self opinion-based conclusions, on which I would have to base my statements on.

What I wanted to say with this, is that the moral, social or religous orientation of a person is closely connected with a persons view or opinion on the meaning of life, or whether or not there is one, or whether or not they're looking for it. Not that this necesarily makes a person who thinks one or the other worse than the other, but there's a huge difference.

Hmm, actually, I'm in doubt of what to write on with here... I think we could all go back and forth, yacking on about meanings and opinions, never reaching any conclusions, out of a thousand possible answers and theories. The reason I'm kinda stopping dead in the tracks now is because I think I realized that everyones meaning in their life is a rather deep and personal matter, even if they don't have a clear picture of it, their theories and feelings about it is a bit of a personal matter. And I really don't feel like listing my own here.

And another thing. Before I wrote all this, I had basically come to a sort of a conclusion, the one which I would end my section about the Meaning of life with, and it went like this:

"At any rate, you have to give space to others to find their meaning."

And it struck me that I couldn't really say much more about it. Respect for others and their opinions is probably something we all should have. But hey, I will give you all space to figure things such as those out for yourselves, but it comes Highly recommended from this Gnug. :)

Might catch up on this subject again... But I don't think it will be one of the things I will be able to write/Blab all that much about, since it's such an individual thing.

We'll see...

A friend of mine and I recently had a little chat, you know, the usual, hey how are you, happy new year and such. And I asked him how he was doing, and what games he was playing at the moment, being the avid gamer that he is. (Controller is his name, you might know him, hehe)

His reply was something like this:

Controller: "I was actually so bored yesterday, that i typed www.bored.com in my browser"

Turns out the site is a good one... or well, it has some nice links..... :)

So I thought I would just plug it, and give him the credit for it. I have found some interesting and useable links on that page atleast.

In continuance with the Gnughdi Blab. I think a great idea would be to put the movie Ghandi to be a required viewing in school. The appropriate age in which it should be seen could be discussed. Some would say that the age of 12-13 would be best suitable, while others would say perhaps 15-16, as those students would understand it better. However, one could say that the message in "Ghandi" is pretty basic and simple in it's nature that 12-13 year olds should be able to grasp it. And perhaps at that age, they would be more receptive towards the message.

And another number of a somewhat tricky Freecell game is: #7253. Try it, love it ! :)

Well, another late Blab, expect more of them, hehe.

Gnug215 signing off.
