Useless fact of the day:
The Pentagon in Washington, D. C. has five sides, five stories, and five acres in the middle.
Swell.
So, to get started right away: I'm planning on babbing primarily about TA:Kingdoms today, not that I think anyone might be even the slightest interested, but as in previously Blabs, I just boil right along. And since the TA:K rantings are rather active right now, I will make it a short Blab, and finish it quickly...
Anyways, so what's the deal with all this ... dealing..... ?
On the Gnug page, there have been numerous posts about TA:K, and especially gloomy prospects on how it's not gonna be even half the game that TA was. This beeing first and foremost based on the statements from CaveDog (CD) and Clayton Kauzlaric (CK), lead designer of TA:K. These statements bear witness of a much simplified resource management/gathering system. Which, I will admit straight away, is too bad, because I really liked the way the resource system in TA works, and I don't find it to be complex at all, just advanced, and with lots of options. I mean, there are like what, a whopping 17 buildings only related to resource managing ? Something like that.
This, however, need not be a total disaster though. As CD and CK have repeatedly said: "This isn't TA", and I for one have realized that for a while, just so I would know what to expect. But it is still too bad, and it always is, when a good thing is messed with. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. Old, overused, but still true and valid, saying. However, in one of the latest statements, CK says that this was something new they wanted to try, and put the emphazis on unit strategies. Or something like that. That was the point that he was trying to make anyway.
But to get back on track, what's the Gnug stand on this Issue ?
Well, just for everyone's general information here:
The Gnugs are not ONE entity. We're all individal beings within the Gnuggle, and we have different personalities, tastes and opinions. This is something you will figure out as the profiles will come up on the Gnug page, Or, if you get to know us properly. This is something some people fail to grasp, which is rather sad, cause as most people, not everyone can and will get along, so that if something goes awry bewteen a Gnug and some non-Gnug (Which CAN happen, and has and does), this winds up reflecting on the rest of the Gnuggle, meaning, that if some person starts to dislike one Gnug, the person winds up disliking the ENTIRE Gnuggle.
And another detail. Gnug315 is the one who's handling the Gnug Web Site. The HTML part, all the technical stuff, and the news. And some 99.8% of the tips aswell. The news part is kind of his place to blab and rant, and that's quite ok, but know this: It's HIS opinions that are presented there (If any are presented in the particular update). So lately in particular, with all the TA:K rants, it's come down to the simple fact that: "Gnugs think TA:K Sucks". Something like that. And it's not quite so. Not for me anyway. I have some hopes and expectations for it, and I think it will essentially be a good and entertaining game. There ya have it.
I am sure that it's not gonna be like TA, and the strategies will unfold quite differently. It might even be quite disappointing, and turn out to be something far from my/our taste. Still, it's not gonna be TA, and I think people should look upon the game that way. I have this weird little notion that people think this is a Sequel to TA, but it isn't, so wait for TA2 ! hehe
I could go on and on about how they shoulda have put this and that into TA:K, and not taken this and that ouf of TA, as features for TA:K. But it's not my choice, it's CD's. So let's just see what we, as individuals, think and make of TA:K, and like it or not, and play it it or not. Sure, if it's disappointing, and if we feel that if they included this and that, and the resource system from TA, would have made it a better game, it's just too bad, but move right along then. But as of yet, I haven't tried it yet, and I don't know what I will like, and dislike about it until I have tried it. For me, personally, I don't make much out of previews and screenshots, other than technicalities and grafix, but the essential core gameplay is something I wont get the feel of until I'm sitting there, playing the game. That's how I am.
But granted, I still think it's kinda sad that they went for a MUCH simpler resource system.
There, now you know.
Gnug215 - Looking forward to TA:K, but still holding an objective view on it, open to anything.
