Useless fact of the day:
The common salamander has a 50% chance of being born cannibalistic.
And we're to assume that Alexander Salamander isn't a cannibal... or isn't he common perhaps??
I think I have found (see: made up) one reason, why my Blabs are getting farther apart in frequency. My demand for higher standards, from myself, are constantly at work. I feel I have to raise the bar everytime, to meet my own standards. And yes, whatever you're thinking: I DO have standards to these things. :)
Recently, I'm finding myself more and more in discussions, of various nature. As usual, I'm ruthlessly trying to push my viewpoints onto others, with more and less devious methods. Well, kidding, kinda. I don't think one should try and force ones views onto others. And although I might be vigorous in my argumentation, in the back of my head there's always, yes always, the understanding of the other persons right to have the views they have. However, there is one thing I would like to force upon everything. Ironically, it has to do with nobody forcing anything upon anyone. :) Well actually, the core of it would be what has been called "The Golden Rule."
So what is this Golden rule? Well, it's basically a rule, that is near the very core of almost all religions (Supposedly sans only LeVay's Satanism). This rule is in essence that of: "Treat others, as you wish to be treated by them." Which is what it basically boils down to. Respecting others, treat them as you think they would want to be treated. And so on. The mere fact, that this is in the heart of all (sans Fne) religions, is proof, that it is something at the heart of humans. Wether you're religious or not. Almost even more so, if you are not religious, since if you don't believe in it, then you believe, that religion is by heart a human created thing, something that over approximately 90% of the world population live by.
So is it right? Is it "The right thing"? Well, how does one define that anyway, unless going by societies laws, religion, Logic, UN (or whatever) human rights declarations, own personal convictions, or something else entirely? Most of the time, all those things above depend on your view on life, obviously. But going over it again and again, I think an obvious conclusion to it all, WOULD be, that everyone should have time, space and right to find out. Applying logic, this would mean, that one shouldn't prevent anyone from doing what you're doing: Trying to find the/your meaning/purpose in life. If at all trying to find it.
So what is it then, that still causes conflicts and animosities? Besides the fact, that many people don't live by the Golden rule that is. While human nature is the cause, it would also be the cure. Same could be said about religion. This is highly ironic, but all I see these days is division, segregation, seperatism, seclusionism, and ofcourse the standard ammount of moral decay. (I have to say that, this being a Blab of this nature.)
It is strange indeed, the way human drive works. I think that most of the time, certain thoughts and signals are being interpreted erroneously, and therefor are being sent back out again as bad signals, or negative pings, if you will. With all that is going around out there, we can as individuals hardly afford to send any more negative content out. What goes around comes around they say. Probably more true than most would admit. It's all a question of looking at it objectively, and then subjectively, whilst stating to yourself what it is you want from it. You will always have to know, or get as close as possible atleast, what it is others don't want. Not that you have to please everyone else at all times... But one doesn't have put much effort into it, to not offend and hurt others. I mean hey... How difficult can that be??? Just try now and then, to set aside all that you are, and what is around you. Set aside your upbringing, beliefs and societies doctrines for a while, and then try again to look at the issue at hand.
The thing is... The Golden Rule is something I'd like to see implemented everywhere. Not by doctrination, into society or religion, not by forcing anyone to do anyone, but it should be the most natural thing around. It's logical!
Of course, I will do my own out-of-myself stepping, even after having read this. I did it before, and during this. Hopefully, I will never stop.
So who am I to say this? I am no one in particular, and I am everyone else. But this is my space, and time, and rebellion, if you will. Rebellions are apparently in fashion, and have always been. Especially among the younger part of the population. Perhaps a required part of growing up, and gaining independency and self-proficiency. Or perhaps just a fit of selfishness, and channeling it into a fight against an opposing authority. This rebellion seems most of all to be manifested in opposition. Just opposition. Anything to annoy the other part, anything to be different.
Is that productive? Is it a good thing? What is good and productive anyway? And does it need to be? I'd like to think so, but if you so adamantly disagree, why not just pass eachother on the crossroads without crashing?
In case anyone is wondering... A crash is a bad thing...
Until the next time...
