Blab #51 - Medium Blabbage - Sunday, 6th May, 2001

Useless fact of the day:

The english language is the 'biggest', with its 455.000 active words, and 700.000 'dead' words.

Most informative and applicable...

Arh... Here we are again. And yes, it has been a while now. Like I mentioned in the news on our 3rd anniversary update, I have been a busy Gnug. But I have also not been producing Blab-eligible material. I don't know if anyone else noticed, but I did; the Blabs were becoming more and more serious as things progressed. Serious, to the point of being negative, in my opinion. So I decided to lay back for a while, until I could write lighter and more positive stuff. Such a time didn't really come, and I can't really say it has now, either. I do feel, however, that I am now capable of writing a piece of work, such as a Blab, without letting the negative critic in me take over completely.

Why the negativity? Well, what can I say? The world isn't becoming a better place, and that is sad. So sad, that sometimes I don't really feel like being happy, even though I should be, and usually would be. But what can I do? I can't just sit back and sulk, and resign from life, until such time comes when life on earth has improved so much, that I can re-join it.

What to do then? Doing nothing won't help, so any effort is welcomed. I for one figured that writing Blabs would help, however small and insignificant the effects. I am going to try to continue contributing in this way - the way I'm good at contributing. I still believe that some good can be done, and I'm not going to sit around and wait for others to start. Besides.. Others have already begun, so I have no excuse anymore for not helping out, for not making my contribution.

But what about the state of Gnug then? The state of Gnug is pretty much unchanged since last year, sans the fewer updates and such. We are omni-present as ever in #gnug, and although it's not so much about Total Annihilation anymore, we're still Gnuggy as ever. World domination has now received highest priority over getting to know the population of earth (which was mostly done by playing the humans' games online). So where are we on the world domination bit? Well, it's hard to say, and I'm restricted to do so... Top secret, and all that. It's coming along nicely, let's just stick to that.

And what about myself? Well, this boiler has gone and got himself a bit of a life. Yes, it's a shocker, but I've shelved my avid online-gaming life - actually my gaming life alltogether. Gaming is normally something to pass time, or having Fnu(tm) with friends. I don't feel that I have enough time in my life to waste precious hours in front of a screen with some game that really doesn't mean a whole lot, and if I want to be social with my friends, I talk to them, laugh and fool around.. I don't destroy their units, as they roll towards my base. So it's basically all chat for me these days, internet wise - and of course email. Other wise, the computer is used for homework, work work (like these Blabs, and other stuff that I write, or try to) and listening to music.

No, you weren't dreaming. It said 'homework'. This Gnug is back at school. It had been a few years, so I figured it was finally safe to return to school, having been out of school and fed up with it for several years. So how is it then? Well, I will admit right away that it wasn't the homework I was missing, and I'm not happy to have that back, but otherwise it's been a real pleasure for me, and now the first (of two) years is almost over. How time flies when feeling good, and being amongst friends.

Oh, and guess what? I started practicing Aikido. I don't know if you can remember me mentioning it some Blabs back. If not, then I can just fill you in. Aikido is a Japanese self-defence martial art developed from a mix of Jiu-jitsu and other martial arts. It's non-competitive and self-defence only, and it teaches you to use your opponents force against themselves. This is achieved through fluent, circular techniques and movements.

I've been at it for over half a year now, and I have graduated once, with another graduation coming up soon. And how is it then, you ask? It's great! I can highly recommend it. The style/art seems to appeal mostly to a more mature audience, and doesn't seem to be attracting big egos - which is a good thing.

And yes.. I must admit it.. I am one good-looking Gnug in a Gi.

Ahem, well, I didn't feel like going morally bonkers this time around... Perhaps I will do that another time. Afterall, I have a duty to do what I can to change the world for the better. Whatever 'better' is.

Until the next time! Stay Gnuggy!
